Donate. Raise Funds. Volunteer.

How can I help?

a donation with a difference

you can make an immediate impact

donate now and help now

One of the main differences in donating to Rainbow Railroad versus other charities is that you have a tangible and immediate impact.

By donating to Rainbow Railroad, you help us provide information and support to LGBT individuals living in fear and isolation due to government and police supported persecution and violence. In many cases we are also able to provide funds to help individuals get to safe or safer countries for LGBT people. This can include funds to cover the cost of travel documents, airfare, and basic needs while individuals are in hiding or preparing to leave to a safer country.

Heart of The Flag, The proud producer of Canada’s largest leather kink events, made us their beneficiary for all their charitable efforts in the last three years and have helped many people find safety with their generous contributions.

WAYS TO save

Everyone can help

There are many ways you can donate to Rainbow Railroad.  Consider becoming an ongoing supporter with monthly recurring gifts, or make a one-time donation to help save a live.  We also now accept donations of Aeroplan miles.  Visit our Donate page for all the details.

Host an event

Your event doesn't have to be big to have a big impact. We've had Queer Straight Alliances do bake sales at schools, top DJs offer the proceeds from their parties, people host dinner for friends and sports leagues host tournaments in our benefit.

Send us a note to with the subject line “Event Proposal” and we can provide you with some support material to help make your fundraiser a success.

sponsor a case

Groups can work together to sponsor a case through the Canadian Government's Group of Five program. Group members agree to raise enough funds to cover the average cost of supporting a refugee in their first year in Canada which is a minimum of$12,000. Rainbow
Railroad provides support through the application process and resources in helping to integrate the LGBT refugee into life in Canada. If you are interested in starting or joining a group please send an email to
